Our Manifesto
From early planning through commissioning, we integrate architecture, acoustics, audiovisual, and lighting into a cohesive system designed to support real use, day to day.

Each phase of our work follows the same approach: understand how a space works, align the systems that support it, and deliver environments that perform in the real world.

About Studio B1

We are creative problem solvers who work with people we trust, for people we respect, and organizations we believe in.

ABOUT OUR TEAM
We are a collective of designers, engineers, and thinkers committed to the performance of space. Our work is defined by clarity in how we approach problems, precision in how systems are integrated, and a responsibility to how spaces are used over time.
Each project is shaped by real conditions, bringing architecture and technology into alignment to create environments that endure.

Our Process

Every project begins from the inside out, shaped by how a space works.

We describe our design philosophy as an inside-out approach. We start by listening to the owner  their administrative and artistic staffs, technicians and building committees. Informed by interviews, meetings, and direct observation, we help our clients realize their dreams through practical and innovative design solutions. We work closely with your team to develop a clear Needs Analysis, working Space Program, and Pre-Schematic Design package that will guide all future phases of the project. Drawing on lessons from comparable projects, site visits and/or reference imagery from relevant performance spaces, and a range of design options, this phase establishes a strong, practical foundation for the work ahead. Studio B1 prides itself on the personal attention provided to each client and project. The project will be managed by a Principal Consultant, a partner, not only in the firm, but also a partner in your project, from first meeting to last.

Listen
Through conversations, meetings, and observation with key stakeholders, we work to understand goals, priorities, and the vision for the project.
Once we understand what matters most, we help shape those ideas into clear project goals. This phase is about aligning needs, ambitions, and practical realities.
Dream
We review existing conditions, study comparable spaces, and draw from past experience to evaluate opportunities.
Assess
Working collaboratively, we develop a needs analysis, space program, and pre-schematic design package. This becomes the project roadmap.
Program
From start to finish, the project is led by a principal consultant who remains involved, ensuring your one-of-one project is executed at the highest level.

THE BELIEFS THAT SHAPE US

Understanding

The work begins with how a space is used
The decisions are made with purpose

Intent

Accountability

The work is carried through, without compromise
Our Process

Our beliefs shape how we think, how we design, and how our work performs in the real world.

Understanding
Understanding begins with how a space is used, not just how it is drawn. We study workflows, technical demands, and the realities of operation to uncover what a space actually requires. Through understanding, we establish a clear foundation for every decision that follows.

Accountability
Accountability carries the work beyond delivery. We remain focused on how a space performs over time, ensuring systems hold up under real conditions and support those who operate them. Through accountability, we deliver environments that function as intended, day after day.
